Wrestling Event Canceled In West Point But School Goes On

March 9th, 2020 | Chris Cottrell
West Point Beemer has  cancelled the Jr. High wresting event scheduled for today in an effort to slow down the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
West Point Beemer will have classes this week, at least for now. The district put out this letter to parents and posted it on  Facebook over the weekend:
Dear parents, On February 29, Fremont hosted a special Olympic event at the YMCA. The woman with coronavirus attended the special Olympic event. Three members of our staff were at this event as well as 7 of our students or alumni. While unlikely, we have no way of knowing if any of our staff or students came into contact with this woman. For reasons of caution, together with the health department, we are demanding that these people not attend school until the 14 days of quarantine are completed. While we dont feel this is an emergency event, we are taking appropriate precautions. If you have any questions, visit our website for contact information from Elkhorn Logan Valley Department of Health. Thank you for your understanding.
