WNCC Offering Live, Bilingual Webinar Series
Western Nebraska Community College is offering a free bilingual series of webinars to help Spanish speaking students and their families gain a better understanding of higher education. The four-part series, “Paso a Paso” (Step by Step), will be available on the official WNCC Facebook page.
“We know that entering college can be a daunting process,” WNCC Multicultural & International Student Support Director Maricia Guzman said. “We want to help everyone, students and their families, understand the higher education process.”
Each presentation will be given in English and in Spanish. Viewers can engage the presenter and ask questions throughout the live session. A brief description of each presentation is below:
February 7 – 4:00 p.m.
The Nuts and Bolts of Higher Education: Understanding the Basics
Applying to college can be a complicated and overwhelming process for both the student and the parent. This session will teach some basic information such as important terminology to be aware of, the differences in the types of degrees and certificates available, and the overall information needed to help increase understanding and decrease stress levels.
February 21 – 4:00 p.m.
WNCC Is the Place for Me . . . Now What?
The Admissions team will give an overview about all that WNCC has to offer, walk viewers through the application process, and provide information about scheduling a campus visit. Campus visits are a perfect opportunity to meet with important staff and faculty that can give personalized information regarding educational goals and answer any specific questions, as well as to take a campus tour and enjoy an all-you-care-to-eat buffet in our Bishop Dining Hall.
