On Monday in Stanton County District Court the following individuals were given jail sentences by District Judge Mark Johnson. Kyler Jahnke, 22, Norfolk was sentenced to 12 months in prison for Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest. Jahnke was also sentenced to 6 months in prison for Attempted Possession of Methamphetamine and Two months for Willful Reckless Driving. Jahke was arrested last January 31st by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office after a high speed pursuit in and around Stanton that ended when his vehicle was forced off the roadway just North of Stanton.

Sentenced to six months in jail for Obstructing a Police Officer was Kristen Bliss, 24, of Stanton. She was a passenger in the vehicle being driven by Jahnke and was taken into custody at the same time as him. During that pursuit methamphetamine filled syringes were thrown out of the vehicle and later recovered.

Sentenced to 37 days in jail was Kyle Kirstine, 40, of Norfolk. He was sentenced for a Revocation of Probation for a Post Release Violation, following his arrest in June by the Sheriff’s office for a Protection Order Violation and felony drug charges at his mother’s Woodland Park residence. Those charges are still working their way through the court system.

In Stanton County District Court proceedings on Monday, 27-year old Cody Murphree, formerly of Pilger, was sentenced to 4 to 8 years in prison on Possession of a stolen Firearm by a Felon charges. He was arrested by the Stanton County Sheriff’s office last year following a traffic stop and subsequent search warrant at his residence in Pilger where two stolen firearms and methamphetamine was recovered. He also faces additional felony charges in Stanton County following his March escape from the Thurston County jail and subsequent assault of two people in Stanton using a firearm with Derek Pederson, 29 of Laurel who remains in custody in Iowa pending extradition back to Nebraska.

Also sentenced to a prison term was 37-year old Adam Carlson, of Omaha. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison on an Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest charge and ninety days for Willful Reckless Driving. He was arrested last August by the Sheriff’s office following a vehicle pursuit that began near Norfolk and ended in Stanton with him crashing into a creek bed after his vehicle tires were deflated by a spike strip just North of Stanton. He was wanted on a felony warrant at the time for Absconding Parole and was later found to have been responsible for an armed carjacking in Harrison County, Iowa the day before where he fired shots at a victim during the robbery.

Entering guilty pleas to drug charges were 49-year old William Fernau, of Stanton, who pled guilty to two felony Possession of Controlled Substance charges for Possession of Cocaine and Methamphetamine. He was arrested last September at his downtown Stanton residence by the Sheriff’s office after the execution of a search warrant. A second subject arrested following the investigation, 35-year old Brandon Wolff, of Norfolk, had his charges filed in federal court where he remains in federal custody.

Also pleading guilty to charges of Attempted Possession of Controlled Substance were 20-year old Alissa Fink, of, Stanton and 21-year old Clay Carter, of Norfolk. Both were arrested by the Sheriff’s office following separate traffic stops near Stanton last fall.
