Authorities from multiple agencies are searching southern Sioux County near the Wyoming line for a rural Sioux County man reported missing by his family.
Sioux County Sheriff Chad McCumbers says his office was notified of the elderly man’s disappearance Tuesday evening around 5 p.m., and a brief search late yesterday has been followed by a wider search that started at 7 a.m. this morning.
“We’re searching in the vicinity of Henry Road and County Road S E, utilizing multiple fire departments, a dog team and a helicopter,” says McCumbers.
McCumbers tells us the elderly man, who does have some health issues, was not present when his vehicle was found about four miles north of Henry.
In addition to family members involved in the search, firefighters from Morrill, Mitchell, Scottsbluff and Gering, as well as officers with the State Patrol and a search dog out of Torrington are looking for the man.
