An area native with 20 years of experience in marketing, finance and entrepreneurship has been named as the new Director of the Carpenter Center in Terrytown.

A release from Housing Partners of Western Nebraska Board says Matt Carpenter, originally of Scottsbluff but no relation to the namesakes of the center, will fill the post vacated by Kristi Sornson, who resigned last July but agreed to stay on through January to help with the transition.

As Director, Carpenter will promote current recreational and educational programs, identify opportunities of growth, build and foster community relationships while maximizing use of the center to ensure the facility’s financial stability and continued success.

Board President Michael Moravec says the board is looking forward to Carpenter’s leadership in building additional strong, sustainable educational and recreational programs to fill gaps in the community.

Carpenter begins his new duties February 10.
