Gov. Pete Ricketts wrapped up the work week by providing his third COVID-19 update of the week on Friday morning in the Governor’s Hearing Room.
Ricketts urged Nebraskans to keep avoiding the 3 C’s, practice safe social distancing, and discouraged holiday parties.
Ricketts says Nebraska is on track to receive its first round of vaccines next week, but couldn’t elaborate which medical facilities will receive it first.
“For security purposes, we’re not saying exactly which hospitals or when exactly they are receiving it,” explains Ricketts.
He did say that now that it is FDA approved, Nebraska will be receiving 15,600 units of the Pfizer vaccine. Those shipments will be distributed to 8 hospital systems, and they will then work with 9 other hospitals to be able to inoculate hospital staff that deals with COVID patients.
