At about 4:30 a.m. this morning the Stanton County Sheriff’s office attempted to stop a car on Hwy 35 near Woodland Park that was observed speeding northbound at 82 mph. The vehicle fled when emergency lights were activated and continued North on Hwy 35 into Wayne County and then turned off the highway into the Beverly Hills residential addition and continued to flee through the narrow gravel roads and then fled back onto Hwy 35 and then eastbound on 846th Road, where the suspect, Cody Ausdemore then drove back into Beverly Hills through yards, before the driver jumped from the moving car while still in gear and ran.
The vehicle continued striking a parked pull camper on Hillbilly Drive. Five other occupants inside the vehicle were detained and a search for Ausdemore was undertaken in the area using thermal imaging. At about 7:10 a.m. a male matching the description of Ausdemore was observed inside the Nucor Steel property near the main parking lot. Ausdemore was discovered hiding in a water filled ditch and was taken into custody at gunpoint by the Sheriff’s office.
He now faces a plethora of charges in both Stanton and Wayne County that include multiple traffic violations, Driving During Suspension, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, Willful Reckless Driving, Criminal Trespass and also a Felony Probation Hold out of Madison County for Possession of Methamphetamine and False Imprisonment.
Ausdemore is in jail pending the setting of a bond. The detainees were not charged at this time and no injuries were reported.
