SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 (GRAND ISLAND, NEB.) — Law enforcement commanders from the Nebraska State Patrol and several other agencies have started a program focused on building leaders of the future.
The Nebraska State Patrol is hosting the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety – School of Police Staff and Command at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in Grand Island. Twenty-two NSP commanders, ranging in rank from sergeant to lieutenant, are participating in the program. Leaders from five other agencies in Nebraska, South Dakota, and Kansas are also participating.
“Developing future leaders is both a privilege and responsibility of any law enforcement agency,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “These 28 present and future commanders will gain valuable skills and knowledge during this program that will equip them to be the talented leaders our agencies and communities deserve for many years to come.”
Many current and former NSP commanders are graduates of the Northwestern Command School, including 19 current NSP leaders who graduated from the program when NSP last hosted it in 2018. Bringing the Northwestern Command School program to Nebraska allows many more members of NSP and local agencies to experience the training.
The program began on Tuesday, September 8. Attendees will graduate on November 20.
