Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (INFO 5102/19F & CRN #60279) will be held Monday, September 16, in the Donald E. Nielsen Career and Technical Education Center, Room 212.

NORFOLK – A class will be held at Northeast Community College in Norfolk that will teach the basic skills needed to provide safe, effective, and caring services to the elderly or chronically ill patient of any age in a long-term care facility.
Nurse Aide (NURA 1110/19F & CRN #15972) will be offered Mondays-Thursday, from September 16-October 10, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., in the Arlo Wirth Building, Room 115-A. Gretchen Hupp is the instructor.
This course is designed to meet the Nebraska Health and Human Services System training requirements for nurse aide certification and employment in long-term care facilities. It combines classroom lecture and laboratory application for the development of basic skills needed to provide safe, effective, and caring services to the elderly or chronically ill patient of any age, in a long-term care facility.
Upon completion of this course, students are eligible to take the state written and practical skills exam. After successfully passing the examination and completing the application procedure, their names will be placed on the basic nurse aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division.
Cost of the course is $366. An additional $45 fee will be required if a student chooses to register to take the Certified Nursing Assistant exam at the end of the course. NORFOLK – Northeast Community College will offer two continuing education courses for insurance professionals this month.
Insurance: The Update on IDT (38199-NE; 102594-IA) (INSU 5270/19F & CRN #60246) will be held on Tuesday, September 17, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., in the Lifelong Learning Center on Northeast’s Norfolk campus.
This course offers an update on the crime of identity theft; how it is affecting consumers and what insurance products can assist.
Insurance: The NAIC Cyber Model Law Overview (392902-NE; 103838-IA) (INSU 5240/19FS & CRN #60247) will be held Tuesday, September 17, from 1-4 p.m. in the same location.
This course is a review of the NAIC cyber model law and a discussion on how it affects the industry, carriers, agencies and insurance professionals. A review of best practices for the written information security program (WISP) will also take place.

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College in Norfolk will offer a series of basic computer classes on three consecutive Wednesdays beginning in mid-September.
Basic Computer I (INFO 5105/19F & CRN #60348) will be held Wednesday, September 18, from 1-4 p.m., in the Lifelong Learning Center (LLC) on the Norfolk campus.
This class is for the person who has very limited computer knowledge or none at all. The student will be taught beginning computer skills, including powering the computer on and off, using a mouse and keyboard, utilizing the desktop, and launching programs.
Basic Computer II (INFO 5305/19F & CRN #60349) will be held Wednesday, September 25, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., at the same location.
This class will review and build upon skills learned in Basic Computer I. Topics covered will include learning to use a word processor, working with tool and task bars, performing basic formatting functions, saving and printing documents.
Basic Computer III (INFO 5505/19F & CRN #60350) will be held Wednesday, October 2, from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m., in the LLC.
This class is for the person who has very limited computer knowledge. Students will continue to build upon and improve their skills with in-depth work with word processing, keyboard shortcuts and the internet.
All classes will be taught by Stacy Anderson at a very relaxed pace with significant hands-on practice. Cost of each class is $30.

WEST POINT – Northeast Community College in West Point will offer a class on furniture rehab, beginning soon.
Furniture Rehab (HOEC 5135/19F & CRN #60148) will meet Wednesdays, September 18 and 25 and October 2, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Donald E. Nielsen Career and Technical Education Center, 200 W. Washington St.
In this class, participants will learn the basics of furniture painting, staining and/or distressing with Instructor Shelly Stark. Paint can transform a solid, well-constructed piece of furniture into something beautiful, on-trend and unique for very little money. No prior experience is required.
Students are asked to choose a furniture item and bring it with them to class. They are asked to call or text Stark at (402) 987-4203 for a list of required supplies. She can also provide information on where to find a quality, low-cost piece to work with, if needed.

Social Media (INFO 5155/19F & CRN #60094) will meet Thursday, September 19, from 6-9 p.m., in the Donald E. Nielsen Career and Technical Education Center, 200 W. Washington St., Room 212.
This class is ideal for those wishing to join social media but aren’t sure how to start. Participants will explore Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. They will learn how to set up accounts, apply privacy and security settings, find friends and start sharing photos and comments.
Cost of the class, with Laci Fitch the instructor, is $30.
