WEST POINT – The Center for Enterprise at Northeast Community College will offer a series of courses designed for real estate professionals to be held in West Point on October 15 and 16. Classes will originate from the Northeast campus in Norfolk and be offered through ITV (instructional television) to West Point.

Real Estate: Your Value Proposition for Real Estate Buyers (1141R) (REAL 5250/19 F & CRN #60274) will be held Monday, October 14, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., in the Northeast Community College Extended Campus, 202 Anna Stalp Ave. Room 222.

This class is the “missing link” in the professional representation of real estate buyers. It is presented in a coaching format that will assist agents in identifying, defining, and delivering their results-based value to virtually every type of real estate buyer in the marketplace.

Real Estate: Show Me the Mortgage Money (0337) (REAL 5170/19F & CRN# 60275) will be held from
1-4 p.m., in the same location.

This class connects the dots between the agent, lender, homebuyer, and seller in a real world format. There is no theory; just proven strategies for financing real estate that will give professionals an edge in today’s marketplace and a better understanding of the entire real estate financing process.

Real Estate: Avoiding Critical Mistakes in the Home Buying Process (0783R) (REAL 5140/19F & CRN# 60276) will be held from 6-9 p.m., in the same location.

This class is a targeted discussion on how to coach the home buyer through the maze of real estate processes and jargon so they can avoid critical mistakes in the home buying process.

Real Estate: Your Value Proposition for Real Estate Sellers (1142R) (REAL 5255/19F & CRN# 60277) will be held Tuesday, October 15, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the same location as Monday’s classes.

Similar to the first class in this series, it is presented in a coaching format that will assist the agent in identifying, defining, and delivering results-based value to virtually every type of real estate seller in the marketplace.

This class is the checklist-look at evaluating a potential property the buyer may want to purchase. The checklist contains items that buyers’ agents have failed to address that have caused license suspension, revocation, fines, etc.

WEST POINT – Northeast Community College in West Point will offer two continuing education, three credit hour classes for insurance professionals later this month.

Insurance: Endorsement Palooza #39536-NE; #104140-IA (INSU 5195/19F & CRN #60165) will be held Tuesday, October 15, from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., in the Donald E. Nielsen Career and Technical Education Center, 200 W. Washington St., Room 222 in West Point.

This class will explore a myriad of optional auto endorsements and will drill down on when and what to offer, proper usage, eligibility, coverages and exclusions.

Insurance: The Situation Room #39389-NE; #103968-IA (INSU 5210/19F & CRN #60166) will be held on Tuesday, October 15, from 1-4 p.m. in the same location.

This class will serve as a review of several case studies and highlight compliance and the changing environment for documentation when offering coverage to any prospect and/or insureds. Participants will also shore up their guidelines to ensure errors and omissions exposure is minimized.

Laurie VanderWal is the instructor for both classes. Cost for each is $45.

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College will offer a one credit hour Basic Woodworking and Lab course beginning this month.

The class (CNST 1060/1070/19F & CRN #15684/15685) will be held Wednesdays, from October 16-December 11, from 5:30-9 p.m. in the Applied Technology building, Rooms 158/190, on the Norfolk campus.

Participants may pick their projects in this class taught by Don Burke. Projects may range from birdhouses to china hutches. Students should bring their plans and materials to the first night of class.

Participants must register for both the class and lab with a cost of $122.

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College in Norfolk will offer two, two-credit welding courses this month.

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) TIG (WELD 1994/19F & CRN #12830) will meet Wednesdays, October 16-December 11, from 6-9 p.m. in the Weller building, Room 101.

This lecture/lab course is designed to teach students about arc welding safety and Gas Tungsten Arc (GTAW-TIG) welding processes and power techniques for welding. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to perform general entry level production and maintenance welding on mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum thin gage material. The course does not include thick plate, pipe or other structural shapes.

Supplies needed include a helmet, welding cap, clear safety glasses, pliers, diagonal cutting pliers, welding coat, TIG gloves and a stainless steel wire brush.

Vern Hood is the instructor. Cost of the class is $244.

Gas Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) MIG (WELD 1994/19F & CRN #15815) will meet on the same dates and times in the same location.

This course provides a technical understanding of GMAW safety, equipment adjustments, metal transfer and shielding gases. Welding will be done in all positions on mild steel carbon material, single and multiple pass using short circuit transfer. Groove welds may also be performed as time permits. The course also provides understanding of oxyacetylene cutting as well as safety practices in cutting.

Supplies needed are a helmet, welding cap, clear safety glasses, pliers, needle nose pliers, carbon steel wire brush, welding coat or leathers, cutting goggles, and GMAW gloves.

Cost of the class, with John Knapp the instructor, is $244.

WEST POINT – Northeast Community College in West Point will offer classes this month that introduce learners to the iPhone and iPad.

iPhone, iPad Basics (INFO 5160/19F & CRN #60105) will be held Wednesday, October 16, from 6:30-9:30 p.m., in the Donald E. Nielsen Career and Technical Education center, 200 W. Washington St., Room 212, in West Point.

Students will discover how to use their iPhone and iPad for emailing, browsing the web, managing time, getting directions, taking notes, taking photos, and listening to music. An exploration of free applications that can be downloaded to your device will also be displayed.

iPhone and iPad – Beyond the Basics (INFO 5360/19F & CRN #60160) will be held Wednesday, October 30, at the same time and location.

This class is for iPhone and iPad owners who want to learn how to use their device more efficiently. They will learn how to download and manage apps, configure email accounts, create presentations, utilize iCloud and iTunes, as well as how to use video conferencing.

Participants must bring their own fully charged iPad or iPhone and know their Apple ID or iCloud ID and password for the classes.

Cost of each class, with Pattie Schinstock the instructor, is $30.

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College will offer two courses on DSLR photography, beginning soon.

Digital Photography – Shooting in Manual (ARTS 5105/19F & CRN #60340) will be held Thursday, October 17, from 6-9 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Center (LLC) in Norfolk.

In this course, participants will learn to operate their DSLR cameras like a professional and move off auto mode. This class will assist beginners with the basic terminology and processes involved in manual mode. They will learn how to control shutter speed and f-stop and learn to control color, flash and other advanced settings.

Participants are asked to bring their own DSLR cameras.

Digital Photography – Take a Good Photo (ARTS 5305/19F & CRN #60341) will be held Thursday, October 24, at the same time and location.

This interactive class will teach participants how to take a good photo using manual mode in all settings, including nature. Taking a perfect photograph with a DSLR camera isn’t always easy, but this class will help participants understand settings, the use of light, composition and posing.

Participants are asked to bring their own DSLR cameras.

Cost of each course, with Elley Coffin the instructor, is $45.

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College in Norfolk will offer another basic life support class for healthcare providers in late September.

BLS for Health Care Provide Course (HLTH 5300/19F & CRN #60068) will be held Saturday, October 19, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Arlo Wirth building, Room 105.

This course is designed to provide a cross section of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. A BLS for Healthcare Providers course certification card will be issued upon successful completion.

Cost of the course, with Ethan Larson the instructor, is $60.

NORFOLK – The Allied Health Department at Northeast Community College in Norfolk will offer a pediatric life support and first aid class later this month.

Pediatric Basic Life Support and First Aid (HLTH 1730/19F & CRN #!5812) will meet Saturday, October 19, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., in the Arlo Wirth building, Room 103, on the Norfolk campus.

The .5 credit hour class is designed to prepare students to perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on infants and children, relieve a foreign body airway obstruction from infants and children as well as basic first aid. The training meets the requirement of the American Heart Association for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.

Cost of the class, with Brad Korth the instructor, is $61.
