Nebraska unemployment rate inches slightly higher

Nebraska’s preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for October 2022 is 2.4 percent. The Nebraska Department of Labor reports the rate is up 0.2 percentage points from the September rate and is the same as a year ago.

Commissioner of Labor John Albin says total nonfarm employment reached a record high one-million-44-thousand. Private industries with the most growth month to month were trade, transportation, and utilities; education and health services; and mining and construction. Private industries with the most growth year to year were trade, transportation, and utilities; leisure and hospitality; and education and health services.

The national seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for October 2022 is 3.7 percent, up 0.2 percentage points from the September rate and down 0.9 percentage points from the October 2021.
