United States Attorney Joe Kelly announced that Senior United States District Judge Laurie Smith Camp sentenced Jose Feliciano Tovar-Quintero today to a term of imprisonment of 60 months. There is no parole in the federal prison system. Tovar-Quintero will be deported from the United States to Mexico after serving his prison term.
Tovar-Quintero, 41, was convicted of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine with Wilfredo Diaz-Lopez in the Omaha area between September and October 2019. Tovar-Quintero and Diaz-Lopez, driving separate cars, were observed by law enforcement meeting in a Menards parking lot in Omaha. Investigators later stopped Tovar-Quintero’s Tahoe in West Point, Nebraska. In a search that followed the traffic stop, investigators seized more than 200 grams of methamphetamine and $8,569.00 of drug proceeds from Tovar-Quintero.
Co-defendant Wilfredo Diaz-Lopez is scheduled to be sentenced on June 8, 2020.
The case was primarily investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Omaha Field Division, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
