The West Point City Council was updated on the Water Treatment Plant Improvement Project at Tuesday nights meeting held on Zoom. Engineer John Zwingman.
Zwingman says on the backwash detention tank the floor is poured, and the walls will be poured on Wednesday about noon. Then after that the forms will be on 24 hours, and then it will be waterproofed for 24 hours, and about 3 feet might be backfilled at the end of the day Friday so they can shut the dewatering wells off otherwise most of that work will be done on Monday or early next week.
Zwingman continues with information on the Electrical side of things.
Zwingman says the Chemical Feed Equipment is ordered, hes just waiting on a ship date.
He adds fill, and pressure, and Bac-T testing will need to be done and be sent to the State for approval, and the state will need to come for final inspection before some test runs are done.
Everything is on schedule to be online by the middle or end of July.
City Administrator Tom Goulette shared Water Main Improvement Project Bids with the Council.
The city decided to go with Rutjens Construction.
Also at Tuesday nights Meeting, going out for bids and the plans, specifications, and estimate of costs for Phase 4 of the Trails & Pathways Project were approved. The estimate is $185,000.
A $15,000 grant for Give, Get, Grow Cuming County through the LB840 Economic Development Program was also approved.
The Council also agreed to start filling the city swimming pool this week, possibly Wednesday. Rules and regulations will be worked out in the next week so the pool can potentially open around June 15th.
The council also approved the use of certain municipal property by baseball and softball organizations and their participants for holding baseball and softball games, practices, and related activities.
Two-way stop signs will be placed at the intersection of Prinz and Hillcrest Streets.
The city also decided to move their meetings to the Nielsen Center for Social Distancing purposes.
