UNL Extension Educator Hannah Guenther and JD Gibbs talked on 840 KTICs Midday in MidAmerica on Thursday about slow cookers. Guenther tells KTIC News that using a slow cooker is perfect for this time of year since it doesnt heat up a home like an oven.
Guenther suggests shredded chicken nachos and barbecue pork chops.
She says thaw meat and poultry in the refrigerator before cooking to ensure even cooking and food safety, and dont overfill or underfill the slow cooker, making sure its no less than half full and no more than 2/3rds full.
