March 5th, 2020 | Chris Cottrell

The number of reported cases of coronavirus or COVID 19 is expected to rise in coming weeks as new equipment is provided to test for the  disease.

Peggy Prinz Luebbert , a West Point native who works as an Infection Preventionist at Ortho Omaha, says this virus is more contagious than other coronaviruses such as influenza and the common  cold.  The average victim passes the disease on to an average of 2.5 people, where as a cold or flu is passed on to an average of 1.5 people.  The infection rate for chicken pox is 8 and for measles its 15 but there are vaccines for those diseases.  A vaccine for COVID 19 is expected in six to 18 months.
