(AUDIO) Cuming County Board of Supervisors hold Special Meeting

February 10th, 2020 | Beth Rogers

The Cuming County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting in the basement room of the Courthouse Monday afternoon to review proposed zoning regulations and zoning map. Zoning Administrator Becky Lerch has the details.

Lerch says this has been worked on the last 8 months.

Keith Marvin, a Planning Consultant with Marvin Consulting, is recommending that Adult Entertainment Businesses be allowed in Cuming County. Marvin gave some recommendations at the meeting.

Marvin says they can either be allowed as a permitted use or be required as a conditional use.

If its permitted use the stage has to be 18 inches off the floor and no one can sit any closer than 6 feet to the stage, according to Marvin.

Marvin says the proposed zoning regulations were put together following a $150 million lawsuit Hall County faced.

Marvin says another regulation being proposed has to do with minimum maintenance roads and homes.

Also at the meeting, Marvin said shooting ranges have to be a quarter mile from houses or any dwelling unit.

About 15 members of the public attended the meeting.

Lerch says the Planning Commission will hold the first hearing on adoption of the regulations next Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

The board will then hear it and have their public hearing on Wednesday, February 26th at 10:00 a.m.
