Superfund Sites Removed

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced the removal of four Superfund sites in Nebraska and Iowa from their national priorities list.
The removed sites include the Omaha Lead Site in Omaha, which initially included some 14,000 properties in eastern Omaha with high lead levels, and the Cleburn Street Well Site in Grand Island, where groundwater was contaminated by hazardous chemicals from a dry-cleaning business.

The Iowa sites removed include the Electro-Coatings Inc. Site in Cedar Rapids, where groundwater was contaminated with chemicals from a chrome, nickel, and zinc plating operation, and the Shaw Avenue Dump Site in Charles City, where groundwater was contaminated with arsenic and other toxins from a municipal dump operated in the 40s and 50s.
The sites were among 11 others across the country removed from the priorities list.
