Local election results from Tuesday night…
For Cuming County Supervisors all elections were uncontested, with Maynard Munderloh representing District 2, Roy L. Liermann representing District 4, and Steve Sill representing District 6.
Voters in the West Point-Beemer School District elected three to the school board, including Steven Hughes with 1761 votes, Steven A. Blocher with 1358 votes, and Herb Hasenkamp with 1330 votes. Randy Popkin received 1099 votes and Christine Torres received 1067 votes.

City of West Point results, Ryan Penrose was elected in Ward 1, Mark Buse in Ward 2, and Tom Swenson in Ward 3. The city of West Point will be amending the Economic Development Program, with 966 voters for the change and 290 against.
Two individuals were elected to the Wisner City Council, including Jay Meyer in Ward 1 and Barry L. Meyer in Ward 2. In Bancroft, Adam Rief and Randy Bargmann were elected to the Village Board of Trustees. The Beemer Village Board of Trustees includes Douglas R. Steffensmeier and Willis Mahler.
In the race for Burt County Supervisors, all candidates were unopposed. David D. Schold was elected in District 2, Paul Richards in District 4 and Gary Bird Swanson in District 6.
All supervisor seats in Thurston County were unopposed. District 1 is Georgia Mayberry, District 4 is Jame Price Sr. and District 6 is L. Arnie Harlan.
The supervisor seats in Dodge County were also unopposed. District 2- Greg Beam, District 4- Pat Tawney, District 6- Dan Weddle.
Voters in Tekamah approved a $3.8 million bond issues on Tuesday’s ballot, which will pay for a new city pool. The bond issues received 686 votes for and 237 votes against. This is the third bond issue approved in Tekamah over the last four years, along with a $500,000 bond for auditorium renovations and a $12.5 million bond for school renovations.
The bond issue for the Joint Law Enforcement Center proposed jointly by Dodge County and the City of Fremont appears to have failed, with 7,147 votes in favor compared to 8,105 votes against.
Nebraskans re-elected Ben Sasse to a second term as Nebraska’s US
Senator, with a few precincts still to report, Sasse had just over 67
percent of the vote, with Chris Janicek receiving about 26 percent of
the vote and Gene Siadek with about six percent of the vote.
It appears the US House of Representatives delegation from Nebraska will look the same. In District 1 Jeff Fortenberry received 58 percent of the vote over Kate Bolz, in District 2 Don Bacon received just under 51 percent of the vote over Kara Eastman, and in District 3 Adrian Smith with a wide margin receiving some 78 percent of the vote over Mark Elworth Jr and Dustin Hobbs.
Nebraska Unicameral election results, in District 15, Lynne Walz
received 59 and a half percent of the vote over David Rodgers 40 and a half percent. Senator Joni Albrecht was re-elected to a second term receiving about two thirds of the vote over Sheryl Lindau, Mike Flood ran unopposed in District 19 and was elected. In district 23 Sen Bruce Bostleman was re-elected with 62 percent of the vote over Helen Raikes. And in District 41, Tom Briese ran unopposed and was elected.
For the State Board of Education District 3 seat covering Northeast Nebraska, Patti S. Gubbels won over 68 percent of the vote, defeating Mike Goos.
For the University of Nebraska Board of Regents, Tim Clair in District 1 and Jack Stark in District 2 both ran unopposed and were elected.
Voters elected to the Northeast Community College Board of Governors Donovan Ellis in district 1, Nicole Sedlecek in district 2, Arlan Kuehn in district 3, Gene Willers in District 4, and Dirk Petersen in district 5. The only contested race for the board was in District 6 where Jeff Sherer received about 59 percent of the vote over Timothy Miller.
Lower Elkhorn Natural Resource District – Jay Reikofski received a very narrow five vote victory over opponent Aaron Zimmerman in subdistrict 1. In subdistrict 2 it was Mark Hall with 51 percent of the vote over Lee Klein, subdistrict 3 Robert Huntley ran unopposed, subdistrict 4 it was Rod Zohner with just under 61 percent over Michael Fleer, Subdistrict 5 Jerry Alleman ran unopposed, Subdistrict 6 Matt Steffen ran unopposed, and in Subdistrict 7 Gary Loftis received 62 percent of the vote over Randy Ruppert.
In the Papio Missouri River N-R-D, subdistrict 1 Ted Japp ran unopposed, subdistrict 3 Larry Bradley with 57 percent over Christian Mirch, Richard Tesar in subdistrict 5 and Danny Begley in subdistrict 7 both ran unopposed, In subdistrict 9 Patrick Bonnet was elected with a slim one-half percent margin over Tyler Berzina, and in subdistrict 11 Phil Davidson was elected with 54 precent of the vote over John Wiese.
Elections to Public Power Disticts…. Burt County P-P-D Scott Lindstrom with 57 percent over Dwane Piere…. Cuming County P-P-D had 2 uncontested races with Larry Mostek in subdivision 1 and Danny Kluthe in subdistrict 2…. Northeast P-P-D had 3 uncontested races with Ronald Stech in subdistrict 2, Leslie Albrecht in subdistrict 6, and Jan Von Minden elected in subdistrict 8…. Stanton P-P-D at large director Gary Koehlmoos with 52 percent of the vote over Weldon Marotz. Nebraska Public Power District subdistrict 9 is still waiting for precincts in Platte County to report their results, but as of 4am Wednesday, Jerry Chlopek has the lead over Jeff Mulder.
It appears that all six measures on this year’s ballot will pass… not
all the ballots are counted yet, but as of early this morning proposed
amendment 1 passed with 68 percent voting in favor of eliminating
slavery or involuntary servitude as a punishment for a crime, proposed amendment 2 to allow TIF financing for up to 20 years in some cases has 61 percent in favor, Initiative 428 related to rates on pay-day loans has 82 percent of the votes in favor, and all three measures related to gambling appear to have passed with 65 percent on measures 429 and 430, and 68 percent in favor of measure 431.
