Rolfzen earns conference honor

Nebraska freshman Amber Rolfzen has been named the Co-Freshman of the Week in the the Big Ten Conference. The Conference office made the announcement Monday.

The Husker outside hitter from Paillion-LaVista South led No. 12 Nebraska to victories over Saint Mary's (3-1), Dayton (3-0) and No. 17 Iowa State (3-0) to claim the Ameritas Players Challenge crown.

Rolfzen produced double-doubles in all three matches this weekend, averaging 3.6 kills and 3.5 digs per set. She also tallied a career-high 16 kills against Saint Mary's

Rolfzen was named the Most Valuable Player of the Ameritas Players Challenge, and she shares Big Ten Freshman honors with Faye Adelaja of Purdue, who also named the Defensive-Player-of-the-Week in the Conference.

The last Nebraska Freshman of the Week was Meghan Haggerty in November of last season.
