Carl Pelini Resigns At Florida Atlantic Over Drug Use

Florida Atlantic announced yesterday that coach Carl Pelini, the former Husker assistant coach, has resigned from his position, along with defensive coordinator Pete Rekstis.

According to Florida Atlantic athletic director Pat Chun, Pelini and Rekstis "tendered their resignation after he confronted them with reports of illegal drug use."

Chun also said both Pelini and Rekstis admitted to "illegal drug use" and that no other members of the FAU coaching staff or the student-athletes were involved.

ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy reported yesterday that both Pelini and Rekstis were recently at a social event where marijuana was used.
