WICHITA, Kan. – The York College Panthers were selected to finish 10 th in both the media and coaches’ polls for women’s basketball.

During the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference media day each coach took to the podium to give a preview of their upcoming season. Head Coach Matthew Madole spoke about his team and how he expects the experience of his returners to help improve on last year’s 8-13 finish.

“We have a solid core coming back with five girls that had experience in the starting lineup. Mackenzie Eller, Elizabeth Maher, Greer Kleber, Jacqueline Esquivel, and Mikala Wilson each had strong contributions to our program. They are going to be the leaders to our younger core that sees a lot of talent but will need some help adjusting to the style we want to play here. Kendall Fike will be able to play a big role for us inside. And Julissa Vargas has a good head on her shoulders and will give us some production in the front court,” said Madole.

York will compete in the KCAC for the first time this season. After spending a season in the Independents conference during the transition year the Panthers are ready to settle into the new conference and prove they belong.
