YORK – After only scoring one goal in the last four games head coach Alex Latorre knew his team needed to push more offensively Tuesday afternoon against Manhattan Christian. He also knew they had to continue their defensive pressure as they had allowed nine goals in that same time span. His team responded quickly and often as they took note on both fronts; scoring eight goals and picking up their second shutout of the season.

Jacob Rodriguez (SO/Aurora, Colo) put pressure on the Crusaders’ defense right away as he had three quick shots narrowly miss. His first shot was saved by the goalkeeper, another glanced off of the crossbard, and then a defender cleared his third shot just before it crossed the line. Cameron Merrill (FR/Edmond, Okla) was able to strike first, scoring his first collegiate goal, as he headed the corner by Brian Aguilar (FR/Fort Worth, Texas) into the top corner to give York the lead 1-0 just seven minutes into the game.

Matheaus Oliveira added two more goals to his season total (6), scoring just 31 seconds apart in the 24th minute. Austin Kelly (SO/Oklahoma City, Okla) finished off the half for the Panthers as he scored his first goal of the season in the 43rd minute.

Four more goals were scored in the second half as the Panthers pushed possession and shape as their main focus before their final non-conference game this FridayJoao Falco (SO/Sao Paulo, Brazil) foudn the back of the net after receiving a pass from Jovanny Ruiz (FR/Oklahoma City, Okla). Cameron Merrill followed six minutes later with his second goal of the game.

Guilherme Camargo (SR/Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Rodrigo Perez (FR/Fortaleza, Brazil) finished out the scoring fest for the Panthers. Ighor Tavares (SR/Joinvile, Brazil) and Brayant Lino (FR/Oklahoma City, Okla) comined for the shutout for York.
