York boys tennis struggle with Bolts dual

LINCOLN – The York Boys Tennis team traveled to Lincoln Monday for a dual with Lincoln Pius X.

In singles, York’s Ty Schneider lost to Sam Coy 8-1, Mason Wright of York lost to Jake Wilkinson 8-1 and Duke Dalton Mogul lost to Brooks Scott 8-2.

York’s number one doubles Bradyn Heiss and David Jinright was shutout by Warner and Lincoln 8-0. Duke number two doubles Wright and Mogul lost to Wilkinson and Scott 8-4.

Head coach, Dan Malleck said, “the matches were far more competitive than they look on paper. We gave them a lot better battle than we gave Gretna early in the year and the state championship  is expected to come down to those two schools and possibly Elkhorn South.  There were a lot of places to find progress for our young squad.  The JV’s found out what it’s like to go up against the big boys and suffered their first loss of the year.”

The Dukes will return to Lincoln Friday for a dual with Waverly.
