Wakefield’s Nelson to play volleyball at Northeast Community College

NORFOLK – A player from Wakefield has signed to play volleyball next year at Northeast Community College. Savannah Nelson will join the Hawks in the 2017 season.

In her career at Wakefield, Nelson recorded 1,877 assists, 883 digs, 320 kills, 79 ace serves and 69 blocks.

In her senior year, she was named to the Academic All-State Team and the Lincoln Journal Star All-State Honorable Mention Team. Nelson was also named to the Lewis and Clark
All-Conference Team in her sophomore, junior and senior years, and earned honorable mention in her freshman year.

Other honors include the Omaha World Herald All-State Honorable Mention Team in her freshman and sophomore years and All-Tournament Team at the Wakefield Invite her sophomore year.

Nelson is a four-year letter winner at Wakefield, where she also competed in basketball and was a three-time state track qualifier.
