GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior pitcher Payton Kinney was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Division I Midwest All-Region First Team Wednesday.
The teams for each of the eight regions are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. I All-America Committee, which is chaired by Tommy Raffo of Arkansas State University.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are also eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors.
Kinney took the league by storm for the 2019 season, en route to helping his team achieve The Summit League Regular-Season and Tournament titles, along with the program’s first berth to an NCAA Division I Regional. As The Summit League Pitcher of the Year and Tournament MVP, Kinney finished his senior campaign with a 1.96 ERA, an 11-2 record and 111 strikeouts through 115.0 innings.
