Two more players joined the Chadron State College women’s team just prior to the start of the fall semester, coach Janet Raymer said.
Both came from Northwest Kansas Technical College at Goodland. They are Leticia “Letty” Rodriguez, a 5-7 senior from Chaparral, N.M., and Kaysyn Chintala, a 5-4 junior from Meeker, Colo.
Rodriguez has just one year of eligibility. During her final season at Northwest Tech in 2014-15, she averaged 10.7 points and 3.6 rebounds while playing in all 28 games.
Chintala was the second-leading scorer on the Mavericks’ 21-9 team last season, averaging 11.8 points. She also led the team in assists with 4.3 per game and had 1.2 steals a game. She shot nearly 38 percent from the field and sank 70 3-pointers.
Rodriguez and Chintala give the Eagles six newcomers to go with seven returnees on last year’s roster.
Raymer also reports that her assistants this season will be Cynthia Rasmussen, a long-time friend and also a Hay Springs native, and Emma Block, one of the three seniors on last year’s Chadron State team.
