WEST POINT – The Guardian Angels Central Catholic softball team hosted Highway 91 and Tekamah-Herman in a varsity triangular at Timmerman Park on Thursday, August 23, with all games broadcast on 107.9 The Bull.

In the first game, GACC took a 3-1 lead after the first inning. Highway 91, plated three runs in the third, and took a 4-3 lead into the fifth. The Bluejays scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth, and would complete the comeback, winning 5-4.

Catherine Kempf took the loss for the Cyclones, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks, striking out four. Kempf also had two doubles and three RBIs at the plate, with Jaedyn Ratzlaff adding an RBI single.

For GACC, Erin Franzluebbers started the game in the circle, going two complete innings, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks, with one strike out. Kayla Fischer pitched the rest of the game in relief, with one hit and four strike outs.  Brenna Rief and Marissa Hunke each had a pair of hits.

In the second game, Tekamah-Herman jumped on Highway 91 early and often, and the Tigers beat the Cyclones 10-0 in four innings. Jaedyn Ratzlaff took the pitching loss, allowing 10 runs on 10 hits and five walks with one strike out.

Jadyn Fleischmann was the winning pitcher for Tekamah-Herman, throwing a no-hitter, while walking one and striking out three. Maggie Braniff was 3-3 at the plate for the Tigers, recording a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Greta Lindberg added two singles and three RBIs, Kristen Bitter had an RBI double and Jenn Graef had an RBI single.

The nightcap featured GACC vs Tekamah-Herman. The Tigers led 2-1 after the third and 4-3 after the fourth. Tekamah-Herman then scored three runs in the fifth, and would go on to defeat the Bluejays 7-3.

Brooke Meister took the loss for GACC, going four innings, allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks with four strike outs. Kayla Fischer and Erin Franzluebbers each pitched in relief. Marissa Hunke had a home run, double and two RBIs to lead GACC at the plate.

Greta Lindberg started the game for Tekamah-Herman, going 3.1 innings, allowing three runs on two hits and five walks, striking out two and hitting two. Haley Kellogg finished the game in relief. Mylee Sheets record three singles and an RBI, Payton Preuss had a double and a single, Maggie Sheets had a pair of RBI singles and Maggie Braniff added an RBI base hit.

Following the triangular, GACC is now 3-1 overall, Tekamah-Herman is 2-1 and Highway 91 falls to 2-5.
