Nebraska sophomore middle blocker Lauren Stivrins was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. It marks the first defensive weekly honor for the Scottsdale, Arizona native, but the second career individual honor as she was named the Big Ten Player of the Week in October.

Stivrins had a career-high 10 blocks in a five-set win over No. 7 Penn State on Friday and followed with eight blocks in a sweep of Rutgers on Saturday. She averaged 2.25 blocks per set to go with 2.25 kills per set on a .516 hitting percentage. Stivrins helped the Huskers hold Penn State to a season-low .114 hitting percentage and Rutgers to .024.

The Huskers have now collected six Big Ten weekly awards this season. Nebraska plays at Iowa on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
