The Scottsbluff/Gering Seacats opened their season over the weekend at the McCook Swimming and Diving Invite.

Head Coach John Galindo took 33 swimmers; 23 women and 10 men, “This was a great meet for us to test out new and returning swimmers. The first year swimmers were amazing.”

The women’s team finished in 2nd place, the men’s team finished 3rd, while the men’s diving team garnered a 6th place finish.

Galindo was pleased with the results after the team had their first meet of the season postponed last week in Hastings due to bad weather, “We have been working hard at practice every day and it paid off in McCook. They trusted the process and did everything we asked of them and more. The returning swimmers were quite impressive with nine secondary qualifying times for the State Swim meet in February.”

Galindo added the team is ahead of schedule for this time of the year and that he expects great things from the team this season.
