With where the Scottsbluff and Gering programs are both at right the final score from Friday night shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
Scottsbluff rolled to a 63-6 win over their crosstown foe, Gering.
Racking up well over 500 yards of total offense including nearly 500 yards rushing the Bearcats improved to 6-1 on the season.
Gering dropped to 0-7 this year. It was their 29th straight loss as a program.
Max Mason was the Taco John’s player of the game for Scottsbluff with, unofficially, 198 yards and four rushing touchdowns. He also snagged a 47 yard touchdown catch from Noah Bruner in the waning moments of the first half.
Freshman running back Jasiya DeOllos totaled 93 yards rushing with a pair of touchdowns on just five carries.
Scottsbluff will play on the road at Sidney next week.
After the game Gering Coach Todd Ekart said his kids played with good effort last night but that they were just outmanned. Ekart believes if the team can focus on continuing to give the type of effort they played with last night rather than focus on what the final score was, then they have a chance to start to get things turned around.
Gering has found a running back. Sophomore Garrett Conn, named the Taco John’s player of the game for the Bulldogs, ran for close to 100 yards and scored the only touchdown for Gering in the loss.
The Bulldogs will host Alliance for their homecoming game next Friday.
