Pender Seniors Fall in Close Game to David City

ALBION – Pender met David City as the only two undefeated team left in the Class C Senior Legion state baseball tournament in Albion on Monday, July 30, in a game heard on 107.9 The Bull.

Runs were at a premium, as David City scored once in the second inning and once more in the fourth to lead 2-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Pender, fresh off walk-off magic the night before, was looking for more late game heroics.

Pender was able to load the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but were only able to score once, and David City would win 2-1.

Hunter Ferguson and Will Gatzmeyer each doubled for Pender.

Chris Rutar took the pitching loss, going four innings, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks, striking out six. Devin Hegge pitched three innings of relief, recording three hits and two strike outs.

Pender will now play Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus in an elimination game Tuesday evening at 5:00. The Game will be broadcast on 107.9 The Bull.
