Pender Juniors Stay Alive in State Tournament With Win Over Wymore

BATTLE CREEK – Pender met Wymore in an elimination game at the Class C Junior Legion State Baseball Tournament on Sunday, July 15 in Battle Creek.

Pender racked up nine hits and scored in every inning on their way to a 12-2 win in six innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Will Gatzmeyer had a double, single and three RBIs, Lucas Vogt had a pair of singles and two RBIs, Nolan Ostrand had a double, single and two RBIs.

Eric Schopke was the winning pitcher for Pender, going all six innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and three walks, striking out five.

Pender advances to play on Monday at 2:00 against either Imperial of Dannebrog-Cairo-Boelus. The game will be broadcast on 107.9 The Bull.
