Pender Juniors Are Class C State Runners-Up

BATTLE CREEK – The Pender Junior Legion baseball team met Stromsburg-Osceola-Shelby in the Class C state championship at Battle Creek in a game heard on 107.9 The Bull Thursday night, July 19.

Pender sent eight batters to the plate in the first inning and took a 2-1 lead into the third, when the momentum shifted.

Pender committed five defensive errors in the third inning, allowing SOS to score five runs, taking a 6-2 lead, which would go on to be the final.

Jaxon Maise had a pair of hits and an RBI. Lucas Vogt took the loss on the mound, throwing two innings, allowing six runs, two earned, on five hits and four walks, striking out three. Zach Hegge pitched four stellar innings of relief, allowing three hits with three strike outs.

The Pender Juniors end their season as the Class C State runner-up.
