COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Omaha softball team fell 6-0 to Missouri on Wednesday afternoon at the Mizzou Softball Stadium. The Mavericks are now 14-26 on the season, while the Tigers improved to 22-21.
Missouri’s Sydney Rice (8-12) pitched a complete game one-hitter with a walk and four strikeouts. The loss went to Sydney Hampton (9-11), who went 2.0 innings in her start and allowed three runs on four hits and one walk. Reliever Aubrey Hacke pitched the final 4.0 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with two strikeouts.
Rylee Pierce went 3-for-3 with three RBI to lead Missouri. Kolby Romaine went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Hacke went 1-for-3 for Omaha.
In the first inning, Hacke reached a one-out single and moved to second on Kelly Pattison‘s groundout. Rice got a groundout to end the inning.
The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Romaine’s two-out homer.
Emma Dargy led off the second inning with a walk, but Rice retired the next three batters.
Regan Nash led off the bottom of the second with an infield hit and stole second. Nash moved to third on a groundout before scoring on Pierce’s RBI single that put the Tigers in front 3-0.
Missouri added a single run in the fourth on a Pierce’s RBI double. The Tigers scored two runs on three hits and an error in the sixth to make the final score 6-0.
The Mavericks are back in action on Wednesday, April 19 when they visit Creighton. First pitch at Nygaard Field is scheduled for 6 p.m.
