Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and Oakland-Craig square off in Boys Basketball Action Thursday night on 107.9 the Bull.
LVSS Head Coach Sean Forbes says he and his players are anxious to get the season started.
“They’re going to be good, and I think we’re ready for the challenge. So it should be two good teams battling it out. We’re looking forward to the challenge. It’s them and then Twin River and then Wayne so we got a heck of a run ahead of us, but our guys are excited to get these games going.”
Oakland-Craig Head Coach Aaron Meyer says his team will need to slow down the Raiders’ scorers.
“We will need to put a little pressure on their guards and make sure we keep Moxness off the boards. Hitting a few shots on our end shouldn’t hurt.”
Oakland-Craig won last year’s contest 55-47.
Logan View/Scribner-Snyder returns two starters from last year’s team that went 15-10 and reached a district final.
Forbes says he has some players who have waited their turn.
“Yeah we’ve got some juniors that have been waiting to step up, and Andrew Poppe, our only senior, that have kind of been waiting their opportunity. They could of played last year, but we didn’t really need them to step up. So Alex Von Seggern, and Alex Hagerbaumer, Nathan Taylor are stepping into those roles this year. And they’ve been working really hard.”
Meyer says the Knights anticipate having a successful season.
“We are all excited. I think the whole team can feel a new level of something special could be in the works. We’ve seen improvements from both the upper and lower classmen, and should be a fairly deep squad.”
Oakland-Craig returns 4 starters from last year’s team that went 9-14.
Tip-off between the Raiders and Knights will come after the girls game, which begins at 6:00 p.m.
