The Northeast Nebraska Vipers hosted a triangular in high school
softball Tuesday evening and came away with a win on both ends,
shutting out Twin River 8-0 in five innings in the opening game and
defeating Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 11-6 in the nightcap. Twin
River finished 1-1 in the triangular after defeating LVSS 11-1 in four
Londyn Nelson pitched the win against Twin River and had a single
to drive in the walk-off run in the fifth.
Carson Miller, Reese Kneifl, Dawson Anderson, Mikki Byrne & Kaci
Baier pounded out two hits apiece. Each also scored a run and drove
in a run apiece.
Michaela Wegner clubbed a double, driving in two runs and scoring
Valerie Uehling was the losing pitcher in LVSS’s 11-1 loss to Twin
River. She & Cailey Stout had the only two hits for the Raiders. Uehling also scored their lone run.
Londyn Nelson pitched the win for the Vipers over LVSS in the
Dawson Anderson had the big bat, going 4-4 with a triple & a pair of
doubles while coming away with 5 RBI’s. Michaela Wegner went 2-3 with a double, scoring two runs while driving in three. Maria Ras went 3-3, scoring all three times. Marissa Kelly, Anjelina Frederick & Kaci Baier each pounded out a pair of hits, with Frederick & Baier both driving in one. Nelson also singled in the contest. The Vipers came away 12 hits against Twin River & 16 against LVSS for a total of 28 hits in the triangular.
Rebecca Wulf took the loss on the mound for LVSS and led the Raider offense with two hits, scoring once. Alyssa Kotik singled & scored. Valerie Uehling & Josie Kahlandt each produced a run-scoring single.
NEN moves to 4-2 on the season, 2-0 in the EHC. LVSS falls to 1-2 with the loss, 0-2 in the EHC. Twin River is now 5-2 on the season after their split in the triangular and 1-1 in the EHC.
Twin River is back in action on Saturday, August 25, taking part in the Fillmore Central Invite in Geneva. Both NEN and LVSS are on the road Thursday, August 23 with NEN traveling to 1-2 Madison-Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and LVSS traveling to 3-2
