COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA – The Northeast Community College men’s soccer team fell to Iowa Western Community College here Wednesday, 4-0.

“I was pleased with our work ethic and effort during our game, but I know that we have to do better,” said Hawks Coach Doug Seigle. “Three of (Iowa Western’s) four goals came directly from our mistakes, and great teams like that will punish you when you make mistakes.”

The Reivers led at the half, 2-0. Iowa Western led in shots on goal with 12 to Northeast’s one and finished with 19 shots to Northeast’s seven.

Goalkeeper Troy Elliott had eight saves for the Hawks. Both teams finished with two yellow cards each.

“We will get better,” said Seigle. “We will get back to work tomorrow in preparation for our home game on Saturday.”

Northeast faces North Iowa Area Community College on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk. Game time is 2 p.m.
