NORTH BEND – North Bend Central hosted Howells-Dodge in girls and boys basketball on 107.9 the Bull Thursday night, with Join Up With Joel contest winner Taya VanLengen of H-D assisting on the call.
In the girls game, points were hard to come by in the first half, with NBC leading 17-14 at the intermission.
The Jaguars had a strong third quarter, outscoring NBC 15-8, and took a 29-25 lead into the fourth.
The Tigers made 14 free throws in the fourth quarter and were able to create separation late, defeating H-D 49-43. Lauren Emanuel led NBC with 18 points. Erin Prusa had 18 for H-D.
NBC ends the regular season with a 16-7 record, while H-D is now 8-13.
The boys game was high scoring right away, with NBC grabbing an early 18-15 lead after the first quarter, and a 40-37 lead at halftime.
H-D outscored the Tigers in the third quarter, and the game was tied 51-51 heading into the fourth.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Tigers, however, as NBC went off for 28 points, and they pulled away for a 79-65 win over the Jaguars.
Tanner Wietfeld had 22 points including four three pointers for the Tigers. John Emanuel scored 18, Jaxon Wietfeld added 16 points and Chase Ruzicka had 12.
For Howells-Dodge, Blake Sindelar led the way with 24 points including four three pointers, and Josh Brester added 15.
The NBC boys are now 19-2 on the year while H-D is now 15-7.
