Morningside College is ranked fourth in the nation in the NAIA Football Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released on September 18.
The Mustangs, also ranked fourth in last week’s poll, improved their record to 4-0 with a 62-23 victory against Dordt College in last Saturday’s Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) opener in Sioux City. The Mustangs’ previous victories came by margins of 41-24 against the University of St. Francis, 65-14 against Tabor College and 35-30 against NCAA Division II Truman State University.
Morningside has been ranked in the NAIA Top 25 for 128 consecutive polls for the nation’s longest active streak of Top 25 rankings. The Mustangs also have the nation’s longest active streak with 13 consecutive NAIA Championship Series appearances. Morningside has a 138-27 record for a .836 winning percentage since the start of the 2004 season.
Morningside is one of four teams from the GPAC in the NAIA Top 25. Aside from Morningside, Doane University is seventh, Northwestern College is 19th and Hastings College is 25th.
The Mustangs will travel to Orange City, Iowa, for a 1:30 p.m. game against Northwestern College on Saturday, Sept. 30.
