Dallas Litscher pitched a no-hitter to lead Saint Katherine to a 5-0 victory against Morningside in Thursday’s baseball game in San Marcos, Calif.

Morningside starting pitcher Brian Howell blanked the Firebirds over the first four innings before the hosts broke through with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Howell allowed only one hit through the first four frames before he ran into some control problems in the fifth.

Howell issued a walk to Brian Coons to start the fifth inning and two outs later hit Andres Saravia with a pitch. Thomas Johnson took over in relief and hit the first batter he faced before Gerardo Torreblanca delivered a two-run single to drive in the first runs of the game.

Howell allowed only one hit in 4.2 innings pitched. He walked four and struck out five.

Saint Katherine broke the game open with a three-run sixth inning that featured a RBI triple by Cole Brooks, a RBI double by Austin Colvin and a run scoring single by Brian Coons.

Morningside and Saint Katherine will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 5:00 p.m.
