Kearney, Neb. – The semifinal round is on the docket as the venue for the MIAA Volleyball Championship shifts to the Health and Sports Center in Kearney tonight.
#1 Nebraska-Kearney vs. #4 Central Missouri The top seeded Lopers will play host to the fourth seeded Jennies in the second semifinal of the night scheduled for 7:30 p.m on Friday. For Nebraska-Kearney Annie Wolfe is averaging 3.09 kills per set while hitting .388 and Tara Zigelbein is averaging 2.67 kills and 0.97 blocks per set while hitting .408 on the year. Linsdsey Smith is averaging 11.67 assists per set and on the return Ellie McDonnell averages 4.69 digs per set. Central Missouri is led by Cheyanne Lyons who is averaging 2.83 kills per set and Maddie Jones who averages 0.63 blocks per set. Kourtney Thompson is the team’s primary setter averaging 10.42 assists while Carly Offerdahl averages 3.58 digs per set.
#2 Washburn vs. #3 Central Oklahoma The first semifinal of the day will feature the second seeded Ichabods taking on the third seeded Bronchos is a match scheduled for 5 p.m. Washburn is led by Leanna Willer who is averaging 3.64 kills per set and Sarah Vicory who is averaging 1.04 blocks per set. Natalie Bates enters the weekend averaging a team best 8.29 assists per set while Alyssa Carney is averaging 5.34 digs per set. Central Oklahoma is led by Taylor Bevis who is averaging 3.94 kills per set and Jordan Spence with 1.03 blocks per set. Katy Davis is the squad’s primary setter averaging 11.70 assists per set while Dominique Lipari averages 4.85 digs per set.
The final is set for Saturday night at 7 in Kearney.
