Longtime Coach Passes Away

Longtime Coach Passes Away

Former Lincoln high boys basketball coach Alden (Aldie) Johnson died Thursday in Lincoln at the age of 90. The Minden native spent 32 years as the head coach at Lincoln High compiling 457 wins and three state titles before retiring in 1991. He started his four decade coaching career at Waverly, before moving to Minden where he coached from 1952-1959. He coached the Whippets to numerous state tournaments. Minden won Class B State titles in 1955 and 58. He was inducted in the Nebraska High School Hall of Fame in 1999. Funeral services are set for 11am on Tuesday Nov 22nd at Christ United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
