Lexington downed Holdrege on Tuesday-KRVN Photo Paul Pack

Lexington-The Lexington Minutemen used a goal in each half to hold off Holdrege on Tuesday afternoon 2-0 in the semifinals of the Boys B-8 subdistrict soccer tournament. Junior Casillas scored Lexington’s first goal of the day, while Lester Perez added an insurance goal in the second half. Gustavo Castro faced just three shots in goal and recorded the shut out for Lexington. The Minutemen are now 10-4 on the season and will face Scottsbluff in the subdistrict final this afternoon at 4pm. That game was moved up to today with the  forecast of more rain on Thursday. Scottsbluff advanced with a win over Kearney Catholic on Tuesday afternoon 4-0. Lexington and Scottsbluff did not meet during the regular season.
