Iowa State’s Carleton Collects Sixth Big 12 Weekly Honor of Season, 16th Career

IRVING, Texas – Senior guard Bridget Carleton collected her sixth Big 12 Player of the Week honor of the season and third-straight, the league announced Monday. Carleton shares the award with TCU’s Jordan Moore. Today’s honor marks the 16th Big 12 weekly honor for the Chatham, Ontario, Canada native, which ranks first in school history and third in Big 12 history, behind Courtney Paris (20) and Brittney Griner (28).

Carleton led Iowa State to a 2-0 week in Big 12 action as the Cyclones topped Texas Tech and No. 18 Texas. Carleton averaged 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds on the week. Carleton scored 27 points in the second half against Texas Tech, adding 10 rebounds, four blocks and three steals. She also connected on the game-tying and game-winning buckets for Iowa State.

Against Texas, she grabbed her 20th-career double-double with 23 points and 12 boards against the Longhorns. The win moved the Cyclones past Texas in the Big 12 standings.

Carleton is the Big 12’s leading scorer, averaging 22.0 points. She also ranks fourth in rebounds (8.7) and sixth in assists (4.2). She has also won more Big 12 Player of the Week honors than any other Big 12 women’s basketball player this season, as no other Big 12 player has won more than two.

Iowa State is back in action on tonight at 6:30 p.m. when it takes on Kansas on Senior Night.
