AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State women’s basketball team announced its schedule for the 2016-17 season Thursday. The Cyclones’ season-opener is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 11 against the University of California-Santa Barbara in Hilton Coliseum at noon.
The Cyclones’ schedule features 15 games against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. A total of six games will be played against teams that advanced to the Elite 8. In all, Iowa State’s schedule features 21 games against teams that played in a postseason tournament.
After kicking off the season at home against UC-Santa Barbara, the Cyclones host in-state foes UNI and Drake on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m., respectively.
On Saturday, Dec. 3, Iowa State will play host to Mississippi State at noon for the SEC/Big12 Women’s Basketball Challenge.
The Cyclones first road game of the season will take place on Dec. 7 when the Cyclones travel to Iowa City to take on Iowa in the Iowa Corn CyHawk Series.
The Cyclones hit the road to open up the Big 12 Conference slate as the team travels to Stillwater, Okla., to take on Oklahoma State on Dec. 29. Iowa State will host Texas on Jan. 1 for the Big 12 home opener.
Kicking off postseason action, the 2017 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship will be held March 3-6 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Big 12 Championship will remain in Oklahoma City through the 2019 campaign.
