IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa head men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery announced the 2018-19 nonconference schedule Wednesday.

The Hawkeyes will play eight nonconference games and one exhibition contest on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, beginning Sunday, Nov. 4. Iowa will also play three neutral site games: facing Oregon of the Pac-12 Conference and either Syracuse (ACC) or Connecticut (American) in the 2K Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project at Madison Square Garden in New York in November, and Northern Iowa at The Hy-Vee Classic in Des Moines in December.

Tipoff times, television/streaming information, and Iowa’s 20-game conference schedule will be released later this summer.

Iowa will play seven Big Ten teams twice and six teams once. The Hawkeyes will compete against Indiana, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Rutgers, and Wisconsin twice. Iowa will host Illinois, Maryland, and Michigan, and travel to Minnesota, Penn State, and Purdue.

Iowa returns 12 players, including all five starters, from last year’s squad. The Hawkeyes will be led by juniors Tyler Cook and Jordan Bohannon. Cook led Iowa in both scoring (15.3) and rebounding (6.8), while Bohannon led the team in assists (178) and 3-pointers (96), and was second in scoring (13.5).
