The Nebraska women’s basketball team completes its five-game non-conference road trip by searching for its first true road win of the season at Creighton on Sunday. Tip off between the Huskers (2-4) and the Bluejays (1-4) is set for 1 p.m. (CT) at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha. Although Nebraska is off to a 2-4 start, three of the Husker losses have come to current top-25 teams, including Thursday’s 85-68 loss at No. 5 Louisville, which won the ACC and advanced to the 2018 NCAA Final Four. The Cardinals improved to 7-0 with the win in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
The Huskers also lost at current No. 21 Miami in Coral Gables (Nov. 23) and opened the season with a narrow 83-77 loss to current No. 24 Drake. The Bulldogs, who defeated Creighton 85-69 in Omaha on Wednesday afternoon, are the only common opponent between the Big Red and Bluejays this season. Creighton comes into Sunday’s game with Nebraska at 1-4 after suffering an 85-69 loss to No. 24 Drake at D.J. Sokol Arena on Wednesday afternoon in Omaha. The Bluejays are coming off one of the best seasons in school history, as they advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a win over Iowa in Los Angeles. The Jays finished fourth in the final BIG EAST standings in 2017-18 with an 11-7 record while going 19-13 overall. Jim Flanery is in his 17th season leading the Jays and owns a 313-208 record. Creighton has won back-to-back games in the series with the Big Red, including a 64-49 win in Lincoln on Nov. 19, 2017.
