NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team cruised to an 89-57 win over Mt. Marty College JV here Monday night.
“We got control of the game and had a chance to play our bench good minutes,” said Hawks Coach Matt Svehla. “Our transition was good, and our post did a nice job in the paint. Mykala Baylor had a very nice game scoring and on the boards.”
Baylor led Northeast with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Iva Belosevic recorded 14 points and three rebounds, while Maddie Egr had ten points and eight rebounds. Sam Caruth put up ten points and four rebounds, and assists were led by Aida Santana with seven.
Kelia Barta led the Lancers with 14 points.
Northeast (9-1) will travel to Fort Dodge, IA, this weekend to compete in the Iowa Central Community College Triton Classic. They face North Iowa Area Community College on Friday at 3 p.m. and Iowa Central on Saturday at 6 p.m.
