On a rough day of weather in Western Nebraska they played softball at the B-6 district tournament in Scottsbluff and Gering.
Gering beat Scottsbluff in the tournament opener for both teams by the final of 7-2.
Jacey Marietta threw 111 pitches to notch the complete game win for the Lady Bulldogs, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out two to go along with three walks.
It’s not like the Gering bats were red hot in the win as they recorded just three base hits. Paige Peterson, Kaetlynn Todd, and Jessica Svoboda tallied the hits while Kaylee Bohnsack and Delany Dean accounted for RBI.
The real crusher for Scottsbluff was seven errors defensively behind starting pitcher Erin Willats. Willats allowed just the three hits and only one of the seven runs she let up was earned.
At the plate for Scottsbluff it was freshman Taylor Klein with both runs driven in.
Gering is in action again this afternoon against top seed North Platte.
*update: North Platte defeated Gering 10-0 in four innings.
Scottsbluff heads to a 6 p.m. game back on their home field.
