WAYNE – The Wisner-Pilger girls and boys basketball teams traveled to Wayne for a varsity doubleheader on Friday, Dec. 15, with both games broadcast on 107.9 The Bull.
Wayne got out to a quick start offensively in the girls game, taking a 37-21 lead into halftime. The Blue Devils held a double digit lead throughout much of the second half. The Gator went on a run late, but couldn’t cut the deficit closer than eight points. Wayne went on to win by a final score of 62-54. Kylie Hammer had 19 points to lead Wayne, with Ashton Boyer and Gabi Meyer each adding 12. Jordan Wegner and Ariel Meyer each had 13 points to lead Wisner-Pilger, while Maci Batenhorst added 11.
In the boys game, Wisner-Pilger scored over 20 points in the first two quarters, and made six three-pointers in the first half, racing to a 43-23 lead at the half. The Gators went on to beat the Blue Devils 65-40. Mason Lee had nine point to lead Wayne. Hunter Waterman paced three Gators in double digits with 22 points, going along with 18 from Gunner Labenz and 13 from Keegan Ruskamp.
